At the heart of the device is the completely redesigned Hyperdymium™ 2 motor: Dyson's fastest and most powerful motor for hair care appliances. The wire that powers this motor is as thin as a human hair – just 90 microns. This is an example of precision engineering that makes this powerful technology so compact it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. This increased performance is complemented by a new aerodynamic unit with a high-performance diagonal impeller and a double-row, molded diffuser. The result: a greater volume of air and twice the air pressure – all while maintaining the same low noise level. The entire motor system reaches speeds of up to 150,000 revolutions per minute. That's nine times faster than a Formula 1 race car engine.

The unique electromagnetic construction of the Dyson Hyperdymium™ 2 and Dyson-developed intelligent control ensure consistent, long-lasting, and precise performance. Designed specifically for the Airwrap2x™, it is 30% more powerful, delivering twice the air pressure for faster drying and styling¹. Combined with the new attachments, it dries as fast as a high-performance hairdryer, creates a more powerful Coanda airflow for improved wrapping and curling, and also enables the creation of smoother styles.

• Attachment recognition: An RFID chip in each attachment communicates with the device and automatically adjusts the temperature and airflow settings to optimal values. The attachments are preset with recommended airflow and heat settings, but can be customized via the MyDyson™ app.
• Personalized curls with id curl™: When used with the Airwrap2x™ curling barrels, the id curl™ styling sequence activates four steps for consistent curls at the touch of a button. Temperature and airflow are automatically adjusted to wrap, lock, and release the hair – for perfect curls every time. A custom hair profile, including a personalized curl sequence, can be created using the MyDyson™ app.
• Hall sensor: Detects when the filter is correctly inserted.
• MEMS pressure sensor (microelectromechanical): Detects when the filter needs cleaning and informs users accordingly.
• 2x glass ball thermistors: For intelligent temperature control, which measures the air temperature 1,000 times per second and keeps it constant – regardless of usage. This ensures that no heat damage occurs.
